Place a medium or large heavy tawa (griddle) on the stove over medium heat. once hot, reduce the flame to low.
Add 2 tablespoons of butter (or oil).
Add _ teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain) and _ teaspoon cumin seeds. saute for a few seconds. if you don't have carom seeds, you can skip them.
Next, add heaped cup finely chopped onions. stir and saute on low to medium flame until the onions turn translucent.
Add ginger-garlic paste and saute until the raw aroma disappears.
