To prepare the delicious spiced cabbage and chana dal stir-fry, start by soaking the chana dal in hot water for about an hour. drain and set aside.
Heat a skillet over medium flame and add oil. once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. allow them to sizzle and release their aromatic flavors.
Introduce the curry leaves and asafoetida into the skillet, followed by the soaked and drained chana dal.
Add a splash of water to the chana dal, cover the skillet, and cook until the chana dal is tender and well-cooked. this should take around 15 minutes.
As the chana dal cooks, enhance its flavor by adding turmeric powder, kashmiri red chilli powder, cumin powder, and garam masala. give the mixture a thorough mix.
