To prepare this spicy yam masala delight, start by pressure cooking the sliced yam. place the yam slices in a pressure cooker, add water, turmeric powder, and salt. pressure cook for about 2 whistles. once done, allow the pressure to release naturally, then drain the excess water and set the cooked yam aside.
In a flat skillet, heat sunflower oil. add curry leaves and let them splutter for a few seconds. then, add the cinnamon stick and cloves and sautËúÖ for a few seconds until fragrant.
Add the dried red chilies, garlic, and ginger. sautËúÖ until they soften.
Next, add the poppy seeds and grated coconut. continue to sautËúÖ until they turn lightly browned.
Turn off the heat and allow this mixture to cool down.
