To prepare the spicy pomfret delight, start by marinating the pomfret fish. wash the fish thoroughly and make slits on both sides of the surface of the fish.
In a mixing bowl, combine ginger paste, garlic paste, salt, lemon juice, red chilli powder, and turmeric powder.
Mix well and rub this marinade into the slits on the fish, massaging it well. allow the fish to marinate for some time.
Heat a skillet over medium flame with a teaspoon of oil. place the marinated fish along with the marinade and cook until the outside of the fish is nicely fried and cooked, which will take about 3 minutes on each side.
In the meantime, prepare the gravy. heat a kadai with oil over medium flame and add cumin seeds, star anise, cinnamon stick, and dry red chillies. once the spices start to sizzle, add the sliced onions and cook until they turn deep brown, approximately 8-10 minutes.
