Soak the split yellow moong dal and chana dal separately in water for about an hour. after soaking, pressure cook them with a single whistle each.

In a pan, add a teaspoon of oil and roast the dried red chilies, ginger, garlic, green chilies, cumin seeds, black peppercorns, cinnamon stick, cloves, and chopped onion until they release an enticing aroma and are roasted evenly.

Allow the roasted ingredients to cool down before grinding them into a smooth paste.
