Thoroughly wash the black gram lentils and soak them in three cups of water for three to four hours.
Drain the lentils and grind them coarsely without adding any water.
In a frying pan, heat two tablespoons of oil and add asafoetida, chopped green chilies, grated ginger, garam masala, raw mango powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin seeds.
Mix well and season with salt according to your taste.
Add the coarsely ground lentil paste to the pan and mix it thoroughly with the spices. saute the mixture on low heat for 10-12 minutes until it becomes dry. remove from heat and divide the mixture into marble-sized balls.
