To prepare spiced lentil soup, start by rinsing the red lentils thoroughly.
In a saucepan, combine the rinsed lentils with enough water. bring it to a boil and then simmer until the lentils are soft and well-cooked. this may take around 20-25 minutes. if needed, skim off any foam that forms on the surface.
Once the lentils are cooked, you can either mash them with a spoon or use a hand blender to puree them until smooth. set aside.
In a separate pan, heat two teaspoons of vegetable oil over medium heat. add finely chopped onions and garlic cloves. saut„© them until the onions become translucent.
Add the pureed lentils to the saut„©ed onions and garlic.
