Rinse the red lentils thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. drain and set aside.
In a medium-sized pot, heat the clarified butter (ghee) over medium heat. add the shallot and sautËúÖ until it becomes translucent.
Add the sliced tomato, chopped green chilies, minced ginger, and garlic to the pot. sautËúÖ for a couple of minutes until the tomatoes start to soften.
Stir in the curry powder, smoked paprika, and turmeric powder. cook for another minute until the spices become fragrant.
Add the rinsed red lentils to the pot and give everything a good stir to coat the lentils with the spices.
