To prepare the tangy lentil curry, start by washing the arhar dal thoroughly and soaking it for 15 to 20 minutes.
In a pressure cooker, combine the soaked dal, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, dry red chilies, 6 crushed garlic cloves, and turmeric powder along with 2 cups of water.
Place the pressure cooker on high heat and cook until you hear a couple of whistles.
Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook for a couple more whistles until the dal is well-cooked and easily mashable.
Once done, turn off the heat and allow the pressure to release naturally.
