In a mixer jar, combine rice and split black gram. add sufficient water and grind into a smooth and thick batter. transfer the batter into a bowl.
Add yogurt to the batter and mix well. cover the bowl and set it aside to ferment for 7-8 hours.
Heat water in a steamer and let it come to a boil. cover the steamer to maintain the heat.
To the fermented batter, add ginger-green chilli paste, salt, and fruit salt. mix well.
Grease a steel plate with oil. pour the batter into the plate, filling it halfway. spread the batter evenly and tap to remove any air bubbles.
