Wash the basmati rice and soak it in water for 10 to 15 minutes.
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a wok or kadai and stir-fry the wadi until they turn golden brown. remove the fried wadi from the oil and set them aside.
In the same wok, heat a teaspoon of oil and add mustard seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. fry until the dals change color and become well roasted.
Add asafoetida, green chilies, and curry leaves. saute for a few seconds.
Add the fried wadi, soaked rice, and salt to the wok. mix well.
