To prepare the spiced lentil soup in gujarati style, start by rinsing the split pigeon pea (arhar dal) thoroughly under running water.
In a pressure cooker, add the washed arhar dal along with turmeric powder and enough water to cook it. cook the dal until it becomes soft and mushy.
Once the dal is cooked, mash it well to achieve a smooth consistency. you can adjust the thickness of the soup by adding water as needed.
Place the mashed dal back on the stove over medium heat. add salt and give it a good mix.
In a separate pan, heat a tablespoon of ghee.
