In a pan, dry roast the coriander seeds and cumin seeds until they release their aroma. let them cool down.
Grind together the roasted coriander seeds, cumin seeds, red chilies, garlic, and chopped onion to form a smooth paste. you may add a little water to facilitate grinding.
In the same pan, heat sunflower oil and add the ground spice paste. cook it over low heat until the raw smell disappears and the oil starts to separate from the masala.
Meanwhile, grind the fresh coconut with water to make a thick coconut milk.
Add the turmeric powder to the cooked spice paste and mix well.
