Soak tamarind in hot water for at least 20 minutes. extract tamarind juice from it. adjust the total volume to approximately 2 _ - 3 cups.
In a kadai or pan, heat ghee and roast red chillies, black pepper, toor dal, and coriander seeds until the dal turns golden. allow it to cool down, then grind it into a powder along with cumin seeds.
Take the tamarind extract and add chopped tomato and coriander leaf powder to it.
Boil the mixture for 2 minutes, then add the freshly ground rasam powder.
Season with salt and add the water from cooked toor dal. once it boils and becomes frothy on top, switch off the flame.
