To start preparing the spiced prawn pilaf, dry roast the carom seeds, fennel seeds, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves listed under biryani masala. grind them to a fine powder.

Soak the basmati rice in water for around 30 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, combine the cleaned and deveined prawns, turmeric powder, 1 tablespoon of biryani masala, red chilli powder, juice of half a lemon, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 cup of chopped mint leaves, half of the fried onions, and curd.
