For karwar style yerappe ani (rice and black split gram dumpling):
Soak urad dal split and rice separately for 8 hours.
Grind urad dal to a smooth paste and rice to a coarse paste.
Combine the two pastes, and add grated coconut, salt, and asafoetida. mix well.
Heat a kuzhi paniyaram pan with oil, add spoonfuls of the mixture, and cook on both sides.
