To prepare the spicy green chilli chutney, grind together the green chillies, garlic, and salt to a coarse paste using a mortar and pestle or a blender.
Transfer the ground chilli mixture to a bowl or a jar.
In a small tempering pan, heat the oil over medium heat. add the mustard seeds and let them splutter. then, add the asafoetida and turn off the heat.
Pour the tempering over the green chilli chutney and mix well to combine.
Serve the spicy green chilli chutney as a condiment alongside methi thalipeeth or bhakri.
