To prepare coconut toor dal dumplings in tangy gravy, soak the toor dal in water for a minimum of 3 hours and keep it aside.
In a grinder, combine the soaked toor dal and green chillies and grind them into a coarse paste without adding water.
Transfer slightly more than half of the coarsely ground mixture into a separate bowl.
Now, add a bit of water to the remaining mixture in the grinder and grind it into a smooth paste. set this smooth paste aside for later use.
To the coarsely ground dal mixture, add grated fresh coconut, chopped coriander leaves, asafoetida, and turmeric powder. mix everything thoroughly.
