To begin making the toor dal coconut milk curry, cook the toor dal in a pressure cooker with 2 cups of water, 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, asafoetida, and salt.
Pressure cook the dal for 4 whistles, turn off the flame, and allow the pressure to release naturally.
While the dal is cooking, grind the fresh coconut kernel and green chilies in a grinder to form a smooth paste. set it aside.
Once the dal is cooked, use a masher to create a smooth texture.
Place the cooker on medium heat and add the coconut-chili paste to the dal. also, add jaggery and tamarind pulp.
