In a mixing bowl, combine the gram flour (besan), finely chopped onions, tomatoes, coriander leaves, green chillies, grated ginger, carom seeds (ajwain), turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt.
Gradually add water to the mixture and whisk well until you achieve a smooth and flowing batter. ensure there are no lumps in the batter.
Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat.
Once the pan is heated, take a ladleful of the batter and pour it onto the pan.
Using the back of the ladle, gently spread the batter in a circular motion to form a thin chilla (pancake).
