Remove the edges of the bread slices. crush them with your hands and place them in a bowl. add lukewarm milk, castor sugar, fresh cream, butter, vanilla essence, and custard powder. mix vigorously with a spoon to ensure there are no lumps.
Separate the egg yolks from the whites. add the egg yolks to the mixture and blend lightly. you can use a blender or a whipping spoon for this step.
If desired, you can add finely chopped nuts or berries to the mixture. mix well to incorporate them. this step is optional.
Grease a baking dish with butter and pour the mixture into the dish. place the dish in the oven and bake at 180 degrees celsius for 15-20 minutes.
While the pudding is baking, beat the egg whites vigorously until stiff peaks form.
