Firstly, heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large kadai (deep pan) and add 1/4 cup of peanuts.
saute the peanuts on medium flame until they turn golden and crunchy.
Now add 2 tablespoons of roasted chana dal and roast on low flame. set it aside.
In the same kadai, add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds, 1 dried red chilli, a pinch of asafoetida (hing), and a few curry leaves.
saute and allow the mustard seeds to splutter.
