Soak 1 cup of moong dal in water for 3 hours.
Drain off the water and transfer the soaked dal to a mixer jar.
Add 1 green chili, 1 inch of ginger, and 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds to the mixer jar. blend until a smooth paste is formed, adding water if required.
Transfer the batter to a bowl.
Add 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric, 2 tablespoons of chopped coriander, a pinch of hing, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the batter. mix well.
