In a separate pan, melt ghee over medium heat. add mustard seeds and let them crackle.

Incorporate finely chopped onions, bell pepper, curry leaves, and asafoetida. mix well and saute until the onions become translucent.

Pour water into the pan and add salt. allow the mixture to come to a boil.
