Heat olive oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds. when the seeds crackle, add asafoetida, ginger-garlic paste, and turmeric powder. Saute on medium flame.
Add green chilies and saute for a few more seconds.
Add barley, yellow moong dal, masoor dal, salt, and 4 cups of water. mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
Allow the pressure cooker to cool down and then open the lid.
Serve the nutritious barley lentil khichdi immediately.
