Begin by toasting the organic cinnamon, cloves, fennel seeds, star anise, and black pepper in a dry skillet over low heat until fragrant. allow the spices to cool and then grind them into a fine powder.
Drain and rinse the beans thoroughly. place them in a mixing bowl and mash them well with a fork or potato masher.
Add the bread crumbs, beaten egg, black pepper powder, garlic powder, coriander leaves, soy sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, and a portion of the ground spice blend to the mashed beans.
Mix all the ingredients until well combined. adjust the seasoning with salt if needed.
Shape the bean mixture into burger patties of your desired size.
