In a mixing bowl, combine the semolina (rava), rice flour, cumin seeds, carom seeds, asafoetida, and salt. mix well to evenly distribute the ingredients.
Add the butter to the mixture and rub it into the dry ingredients until the mixture becomes crumbly.
Gradually add water, little by little, and knead to form a smooth and pliable dough. the dough should not be too soft or too stiff.
Heat oil in a deep pan or kadai for frying the chaklis.
