Firstly, in a large bowl, soak 1 cup of sabudana (sago) in enough water for 3 to 4 hours or until it becomes easily mashable. the soaking time may vary depending on the quality of sabudana.
After 4 hours, drain off the water and transfer the soaked sabudana to a large kadai (deep pan).
Add 4 cups of water, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of red chilli paste, and mix well.
Boil the mixture for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cook until the sabudana pearls turn translucent and swell.
