To begin preparing the green gram delight, grind the fresh coconut and dried red chilies into a smooth paste with a little water. set this paste aside.
Boil the whole green gram in enough water with turmeric powder and a pinch of salt until it becomes tender but retains its firmness. be cautious not to overcook and make it mushy.
Add the ground coconut paste to the cooked green gram and continue to cook for approximately 15 minutes over medium heat.
Incorporate the tamarind paste and continue cooking for an additional 8 minutes.
In a separate pan, heat sunflower oil. first, add the sliced onions and fry them until they turn golden brown. remove the fried onions and set them aside.
