To prepare the malabar banana flower curry, first wash the banana flowers and remove the outer layers to reveal the edible part.
Soak the chana dal and brown rice separately in water for about an hour.
Cook the chana dal in water with a pinch of salt until it is tender. drain the water and set it aside.
In a blender, grind the soaked brown rice, onion, and cardamom with 1 cup of water until you get a smooth paste.
Transfer the rice batter to a pan and add the thin coconut milk.
