To prepare tangy lemon idiyappam, start by collecting all the necessary ingredients.
Wash the idli rice thoroughly and soak it in water for about 4 hours. after soaking, drain the water completely.
Grind the soaked rice to make a smooth and thick batter. ensure that the batter is slightly coarse in texture, similar to the consistency of traditional idli batter.
Now, heat a steamer and grease the idiyappam mould (a cylindrical or flower-shaped mold used to make idiyappam) with a little gingelly oil.
Fill the mould with the ground rice batter, and press it to make idiyappam strands onto a greased plate or idli plates.
