To prepare the cumin flavored rice (jeera rice), start by rinsing the basmati rice thoroughly in water.
In a saucepan or handi, add the washed rice, 1 tablespoon of ghee, and two cups of water. also, add a pinch of salt to taste.
Bring the rice to a brisk boil over medium heat.
Once the rice comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a lid, and let the rice cook until all the water is absorbed.
Once the water is completely absorbed and the rice is cooked, turn off the heat.
